ubuntu – serviio

Serviio is a free dlna media server. It allows you to stream your media files (music, video or images) to renderer devices (e.g. a TV set, Bluray player, games console or mobile phone) on your connected home network.
Open terminal

1. Install Java
apt-get install default-jre

2. Install FFmpeg
apt-get install ffmpeg libavcodec-extra-53 libavformat-extra-53

3.Get Serviio
wget http://download.serviio.org/releases/serviio-0.6.2-linux.tar.gz

4. Un Tar it
tar xvf serviio-0.6.2-linux.tar.gz

5. Create the .serviio in hidden root (ctrl+h to see hidden)

6. Move serviio-0.6.2 to the .serviio
mv serviio-0.6.2 .serviio

7. Open gedit to tweek startup script
sudo gedit /etc/init/serviio.conf

8. Copy the below into gedit and save. This will start serviio service each time you start your pc.

start on started networking
script
/home/ubuntu/.serviio/serviio-0.6.2/bin/serviio.sh
end script

9. Start serviio
sudo start serviio

10. Start the gui
ubuntu@ubuntu-VirtualBox:~$ /.serviio/bin/serviio-console.sh
